Cheryl's space

{May 1, 2012}   Adored by many others.

For those people who were not involved in organised crime and had no idea that I may have been under threat wherever I was ,my work in Security was valued for the way I handled situations with people handling skills being able to defuse troubled situations without having anyone punch each other I put myself in some of the most heated arguments never having been afraid of anyone ,of which gave me peace of mind that no-one was ever injured around me unlike many other Security staff ,they talk with their fists’when I took that roll I pledged a duty of care to look after people and not see them hurt themselves ,I know it is difficult in some situations were people are already out of control but you do your best at the Lane-way concert Footscray 2010′ I was absolutely appreciated by the crowd for giving them breathing space where needed simple things like taking those that were desperate for a toilet where they were locked in thousands deep and the nearest toilet was 80 yards away ,it was never a problem for me to take the odd dozen to back stage toilets even if it was not allowed more on site toilets were needed but not available or gathering other security staff in keeping an Australia day ball in play whilst bands were changing over to keep the crowd amused to save any disturbances or fights starting ,at that concert everybody could see that I was not the kind of person that they had heard about and teenagers both girls and guys approached me at times to ask me was I being Abused one girl even described personal marks on my body that would only be seen from nude photos this was heart breaking for me because it was neither the time or place to speak to these kids with the bands being so loud,an incident happened at that concert that I actually missed seeing but what I saw was how another security guard treated a female 5 ft nothing not intoxicated in fact I could not smell 1 ounce of alcohol on her breath but the terror on her face of being traumatized was very real from the treatment she copped 1 guard had her in a complete headlock where others joined as they threw her outside with her friends pleading to them to set her free,I could see she was of no threat to anyone and asked that they bring her back inside and that I would handle her where I would put her back into the crowd after she had stopped sobbing and that she had a clear frame of mind if I had not done that I have no doubt that she would have been traumatized for many years to come ,these kind of incidents can be handled so differently where everyone ends up being happy where they do not want to cause trouble many Security guards need to stop and think before acting that they took a duty of care ,then you should try putting it to use your supposed to protect people not injure them,I was overwhelmed to see blokes with criminal backgrounds doing Security courses full well knowing that they would be working without licenses ,just how did they get into classes in the first place I was intimidated to be there in the same class room where in class they openly spoke of their criminal activities, this was at the World Trade Center,in the police building ,what a joke/part of being accepted in a security class is a police check before hand.
